School Budget Vote and Board of Education Election

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
- Expansion of the elementary music program to include strings instruction to 5th grade
- Expansion of foreign language instruction into the 6th grade
- Additional staff in the elementary grades and at the middle school to accommodate increasing enrollment
- More academic options for students in accelerated classes
- Expansion of Peekskill High School’s Elective program to include Robotics, STEM, Photo-Journalism, Computer Science and Engineering by Design
- Continued enhancements to project-based learning experiences for all students in research, science, technology and the arts
- Finance Academy program which will be directly linked to college curriculum for students pursuing a Business degree
- Capital improvements, including an upgrade to the high school auditorium’s seats, lighting, and carpeting
The budget proposes a tax levy increase of 1.02%, which is under our tax cap.
